Michel INCHAUSPE keeps one branch and 10 million Francs in deposits
A few years later, in 1960, upon the death of Louis and Jean's retirement, Michel and Leon, cousins and sons of Louis and Jean respectively, jointly took over the management of the company.
The history of the Banque INCHAUSPE accelerated in 1970. Michel and Leon decided to part ways and to create two distinct banking establishments with their different strategies. In order to do this, Leon INCHAUSPE chose the two branches on the Basque coast: at Bayonne and Saint Jean-de-Luz and kept the name "Bank INCHAUSPE and Company". As for Michel INCHAUSPE, faithful to the Navarran roots of his family, he kept only the branch in Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port and joined forces with the Banque Auxiliare d'Escompte et de Crédit de Paris (the Discount and Credit Auxiliary Bank of Paris) and created BAMI, the Banque Auxiliare Michel INCHAUSPE.
The development of the all-new BAMI was rapid. Branches opened in Saint Palais (February 1971), Mauléon (February 1972), Hasparren (June 1972), Pau (October 1972), Biarritz (June 1977); then in Oloron (July 1982) and Lourdes (February 1983). In 1977-78 the 10 Parisian branches, brought into association in 1970, were assigned to the Banque Vernes et Commercial de Paris upon the initiative of its CEO, Mr. Jean ROUGIER. The Banque Vernes so entered the capital of BAMI.
